How many bikes can I carry?
All vehicles have a nose weight rating
This is the recommended downward force permissible on the towball. It is established by the vehicle manufacturer and or the towbar manufacturer and should not be exceeded. This specification can usually be found in the vehicle handbook under technical data dealing with towing weights etc or by contacting the towbar manufacturer. Cars may typically have a nose weight rating between 50kg and 85kg while that of the more robust 4x4 vehicles could be in excess of 125kg.
The MAXXRAXX is extremely strong and has been designed and engineered so that if your vehicle has a nose weight rating of 100kg or more you can carry upto 5 bikes.
Select how many bikes you wish to carry based on the strength of your vehicle and your own needs.

- A 4-bike MAXXRAXX bike rack weighs approx 12kg.
- A fairly typical steel frame bike weighs approx 14kg.
- 4 bikes on a MAXXRAXX would place a 68kg nose weight loading on your towbar.
On certain very rugged vehicles such as some 4x4s, you may be able to carry upto 5 bikes.
This PDF document, based on the nose weight rating of each vehicle, is a detailed guide listing our recommendations of the maximum number of bikes you can carry. Check your Owner's Handbook for more information.
You should not exceed the recommended nose weight rating of your vehicle. This could limit the number of bikes you are able to carry on your particular vehicle, especially if you will be towing at the same time.
