Fitting Electrics

There are two types of electrics that we fit for vehicles: 7pin or 13pin electrics depending on what you are intending to use the electrics for: towing a caravan, trailer or for your cycle carrier’s lightboard.

7 pin electrics for a trailer or cycle carrier light board

Electrics for a trailer or cycle carrier light board

7 pin electrics this system is required for use of a trailer or lightboard. They provide power to indicators, taillights, fog lights and brake lights. If you do not intend to tow a caravan, then this system will be the cheaper of the two options.

13 Pin Electrics for towing a caravan

Electrics for towing a caravan

13 Pin Electrics this system combines the two plugs of the twin system (pre-2008) to a single plug that supplies power not only to the lights but to the caravan whilst being towed. It supplies the battery, power supply and fridge of the caravan. However this plug and be easily converted via conversion leads to supply caravan that were produced prior to 2008 with the twin 7pin plug and to trailer or cycle carrier light boards that have 7pin electrics.

Dedicated Electrical kits

Dedicated Electrical kits

Dedicated or vehicle specific electrical kits are required for all vehicles since 2012. They have been specifically designed for each individual vehicle to interact with the vehicles sophisticated onboard computer. Dedicated electrical kits communicate with the vehicles safety features and enable the use of all the vehicles towing features. Some older vehicles do not require this, but we believe it is the best option for all vehicles as it is the safest and most reliable system. Dedicated kits automatically disable the vehicles parking aids when towing to prevent reverse sensors activating; they also disable the vehicles rear fog lamps to prevent reflective glare whilst towing; it also activates the TSP (trailer stability program) of the vehicle; it will trigger a trailer warning light on your dashboard and will work with the speed dependant adjustable suspension. We will fit this system and recode your vehicle, if necessary, to enable it to all work cohesively when attaching your tow bar.

Please note that not all vehicles require coding for the TSP. The following makes do tend to require this for either 7 or 13 pin installations. (Audi, Citroen, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes, Peugeot, Porsche, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen).
